This week, the Christian radio station has been asking different things about Christmas. One question was about people with December birthdays. They wanted people to share about their birthdays and if they felt like it was overlooked because of Christmas. It got me thinking about my birthday on the 20th. I don't remember ever feeling like my birthday was overlooked because of Christmas. As I got older, and realized that I was born just 10 months after my brother, I sometimes felt like the unplanned for child. My mom told me once that I was the best Christmas gift! How amazing to be someone's "gift". And that is just what Jesus is to us! He is God's perfect Christmas gift, perhaps unwelcomed by the world, but none the less, He is our treasure.
As I reflect on this season, I am humbled by God's love for us and his gift of His only son. I am struggling with a bit of depression, probably from all the changes going on in the family. But I was so blessed when the kids were here the other day and we baked some cookies. Awww. the simple things!
